ANOTHER SIDE OF RACK COLLECTION, IT’S WINE RACK.

“Wine” is alcoholic beverage industry is an export and import supplier that continues to grow rapidly from year to year. And “Wine” must be synonymous with Europe, because wine is their favorite drink. No wonder every house has wine to just warm the body. For those of you who like wine, the kitchen corner can be a good wine place. So it is not always put in the refrigerator.

This also makes Alas Gembol provide a special wine rack that can beautify your kitchen or dining room. The wine rack from Alas Gembol has 3 sizes that you can fit your kitchen or your needs, there is small, large, and extra large or you can request by your own size. If the wine runs out, don’t rush to throw the bottle away. Empty liquor bottles are often used as decorations or displays because of their unique shape or high price. Many alcoholic drink collectors display their collections and arrange them nicely at home. If the decoration is well thought out, then the wine storage area can be a sweetener at home design. For example, your wine bottles from your collection are displayed in an open cupboard in the dining room. Quality teak wood such as from Alas Gembol makes your room even more beautiful.

The Sumatran elephant is smaller than the Indian elephant subspecies. Its population is decreasing and it is a very threatened species. Around 2000 to 2700 Sumatran elephants are left in the wild based on a survey in 2000. As many as 65% of the Sumatran elephant population has disappeared due to human killing, and 30% are likely killed by poisoning by humans. About 83% of the Sumatran elephant habitat has become plantation areas due to aggressive encroachment.

Alas Gembol has an unique elephant made from erosion wood. Erosion wood is the root of teak. The proverb says, “There is no rattan, the root will be”. Therefore, the base of Alas Gembol takes advantage of this occasion. The remaining roots are transformed into a unique item, one of which is in the form of an elephant. This elephant has many size variants, which can be adapted to market needs.

RARELY TO HEARD, OFTEN TO SEEN, IT’S RESIN.

artkl;
zNS_Epoxidharz-Transparent-blue-blau-Epodex

Resin is an exudate that comes out of various types of plants, generally by conifers or conifers. This sap usually freezes, can be done quickly or slowly, and forms a hard and transparent mass.

Resins are used by humans, especially for adhesives, varnishes, food coatings (to make them shiny), as a mixing agent for perfume and incense, as well as for the source of raw materials for various processed organic materials.

Resins have been widely used by people since the days of civilization, as has been cited by a Greek named Theophrastus and an ancient Roman named Pliny. All these materials are chemically similar and are composed of polymers or complex molecules with high molecular weight. The specific shape of each molecule determines the shape of the plastic whether it is a fiber, such as rubber or a resin.

Synthetic resins have two properties when viewed from the process of formation. If it is formed without a chemical reaction it will be thermoplastic (can return to its original shape) and if it is formed by a chemical reaction then it is a thermoset (cannot return to its original shape) for example: epoxy, polyurethane, polyester etc. Synthetic resins that are commonly found in places where fiberglass are made usually consist of 2 substances, namely polymer which serves as the hardener and synthetic resin which functions as the base.

How to care this furniture, as follows:

First, use a clean cloth with a little oil, don’t be too much, after that, apply it evenly, try to use a little oil, after the cloth and oil have been done, we immediately dry it with a cloth that hasn’t been exposed to oil, you need it until it’s completely dry , if not dry it will open the resin so that the resin will be ugly and a little bit not sticky.

HOW TO CLEAN & CARE GOATSKIN MATERIAL (?)

2a3f2b9f-cd2f-4fc2-ab60-252bd1816dc3
goat-skin-leather-500x500

Alas Gembol has a variety of stool with different sizes and finishes, one of which is a goat skin stool. This bench has the same function as other chairs only in the manufacturing material is slightly different because it usually only uses wood but for this chair add goat skin to coat the wood to make it look unique and funny.

The goat skin used has also been cleaned dry, and has gone through several processes so that it does not smell. If you like bohemian concepts, this bench might be your choice. So, how to care goatskin materials, as follows:

• Clean the leather sofa regularly once a week with a dry, soft cloth.

• For furry leather sofas, use a soft brush when cleaning dust and grime.

• Do not expose the leather sofa to direct sunlight so that the color does not fade quickly.

• Especially for smooth skin, keep the moisture by applying a special skin moisturizer that is available in the market, approximately once a month. Actually, animal skin is similar to human skin, if not given a moisturizer, the surface becomes chapped and eventually cuts / tears easily. If a special moisturizer is difficult to find around the house, it can be replaced with a skin moisturizer that is commonly used by humans.

• Avoid water spills, especially for leather sofas made of suede because they absorb water very easily. Immediately wipe the surface of the sofa if it gets water droplets with a dry cloth made from a soft cloth.

• For hairy skin, stick the affected area with a highly absorbent sponge until it dries and the water is completely absorbed.

LINES

Illustration of Lines (pexels-asim-alnamat)

HOW DO YOU FEEL WHEN YOU SEE LINES IN ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN?

TABLE

Lines give meanings and impressions for those who see it. When you see lines, you will feel something. For example:  How do you feel when you see fence which is represented by zigzag line? What about when seeing sea which is represented by horizontal line? Compare those feeling. Are they different?

TEAK TABLE

THE MEANING OF VERTICAL LINE

Vertical line is a line that is perpendicular up or down when we see it. You can see vertical line on light poles, coconut trees, multi-storey buildings, ladders, etc.

Vertical line means that something looks upright, rigid, sturdy, higher, and even horrific as if you stand under the highest building in the world. When you use vertical line, it means you want to bring out those impressions.

TEAK TABLE

THE MEANING OF HORIZONTAL LINE

Horizontal line is a transverse. Horizontal line means that object looks relaxed, bigger, wider, and spacious. Those meanings give serenity impression. For example:  garden or park or sea (dominant horizontal lines) will give you serenity impression.

TEAK TABLE

THE MEANING OF DYNAMIC LINES (DIAGONAL, CURVED, AND ZIGZAG LINE)

Dynamic lines give energy and movement on the structure of a room. They could chase attention longer.

Diagonal Line

It is a virgule that stands alone or opposite each other. It gives dynamic impression or as if the object is moving or to seek for attention. It is really not compatible for making work room because it can disturb our concentration. We will feel like we are disturbed by the object which always seeks for attention.

TEAK TABLE

Curved Line

Curved lines can form an upward curve, downward curve, curved to the side and waving. Curved line means happiness where everyone could smile and happy when he or she sees it. Example:  recreation spot.

Zigzag Line

Zigzag line is straight lines connecting each other to form sharp angles when we look at them. Zigzag line means spirit, passion, and fast move.

ARCHITECTURE

Cube House (pexels-karin-s)

CUBE HOUSES, CREATING “FOREST” IN A CITY

CHAIR

Cube Houses (Kubuswoningen) were built in 1970-an on 100 square meters land by architect Piet Blom. It is a set of cube houses. Some of them are built above roads but connected to each other. The building shapes horizontal and vertrical lines like a forest in a city. You can see the cube houses in Rotterdam and Helmond, Netherland. The famous one is located in Overblaak Street, right above Blaak Metro Station, Rotterdam.

CHAIR

The concept of cube houses is living as an urban roof. Yup! The cube is on the upside of the stem-like building. The cube represents the top of the tree that consists of twigs and leaves. Overall, the stem-like building and the cube have functions as the protector/shade from sunburn and rain. The unique shape of cube houses eliminates the rigidity of a city.

TALL CHAIR

Cube houses consist of 3 floors:

Ground floor as an entrance.

1st floor consists of living room and open kitchen.

2nd floor consists of 2 bedrooms and bathroom.

Top floor, sometimes it is used as a small garden.

T CHAIR

Beside the unique tree-like shape building, cube houses are also interesting because of their many windows. Many windows on them make the sunlight entering many spaces in the house. It is economical, saving energy, and healthy.

Many people often distinguish between teak wood and suar wood wrongly. They look same but in different quality.

WOOD COLOUR

Both of woods` colours are dark brown. But old teak wood colour is dark brown with golden effects and this effect can only be seen in teak wood.

When you try to distinguish between suar wood and teak wood, ensure that it has no finishing on it.

WOOD FIBER

Suar wood and teak wood`s fiber look really similar. Each circle year will add uniqueness and attractiveness of each furniture look.

Suar wood has thicker fiber than teak wood. Suar wood`s circle year looks really clear and sharp and teak wood`s circle year looks clear. Suar wood fiber groove makes straight lines many more than teak wood. Teak wood fiber groove tends to waving.

SAPWOOD

It is the outermost from wood and it has the lowest strength.

On suar wood, sapwood is really clear so we can directly distinguish which part is sapwood and which one is suar wood. Its sapwood colour is white and the patiowood is dark brown.

On teak wood, sapwood has no subtle differences because the quality of teak wood`s  sapwood is close to its patiowood. The sapwood tends to reddish brown colour and its patiowood has darker brown colour.

SUAR WOOD

THE WEAKNESSES OF SUAR WOOD AND ITS MAINTENANCE

TABLE

THE WEAKNESSES

Previously we had reviewed about suar wood and its strengths. However, suar wood has weaknesses too. Its weaknesses lie on its durability and strength.

Suar wood`s durability is at class IV. It means the hardness of suar wood is not really good. Therefore, suar wood is quite vulnerable with termite infestation, fungal, and powder lice. Seeing this vulnerability, the treatment should be well done from the beginning. Besides, it is easily broken when it is exposed to the hot sun. If it is exposed to direct rain, it will rot. Therefore it is not good for outside furniture.

ROUND COFFEE TABLE

The strength of suar wood is at class III. It means suar wood cannot support objects that are too heavy. Therefore, suar wood is only suitable for making  table or cupboard, not for roof truss or building materials.

MAINTENANCE TIPS

Suar wood has strengths and weaknesses. Don`t worry. We can tackle its weaknesses so that it is durable.

Give anti-termite and fungal drugs to the wood before furniture processing. After it becomes furniture, clean it from dust with cloth regularly.

> For its durability, suar wood is at class IV

STOOL

> For its strength, suar wood is at class III

> For its density, suar wood is at middle class but under teak wood

THE STRENGTHS OF SUAR WOOD
